Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the DocVault app for Apple devices, such as iPhone, iPad and Mac, together with its widgets and any related services operated by Andrei Ardelean (collectively, the “Application”). Andrei Ardelean is hereby referred to as the “Service Provider”.

In short

The Application has no account, no ads, no tracking and no analytics. The Service Provider runs no server for it, and never sees, collects or sells your documents or any other personal information, apart from what you choose to send, such as a support email, or to share as a beta tester. Your documents stay on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own iCloud account.

What information does the Application obtain and how is it used?

The Application does not collect, log, or send any personal information to the Service Provider. Registration is not required.

The documents, dates, notes and attachments you add are stored on your device, so the Application can show them, remind you about them and display them in its widgets. The Application does not connect to any server run by the Service Provider; it only uses Apple’s services, such as the App Store and iCloud, described below.

iCloud

If iCloud is turned on for DocVault, your documents, attachments and some settings (such as your reminder timeline and delivery time) are also stored in your private iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit, so they appear on your other devices signed in to the same Apple Account. This data belongs to your iCloud account; the Service Provider has no access to it. Apple’s Privacy Policy covers how Apple stores it. You can turn off iCloud for DocVault at any time in your device’s settings (the Settings app on iPhone and iPad, or System Settings on Mac).

When you continue on another device using Handoff, only an identifier of the screen you were on is passed through Apple’s services, never the document’s contents.

Camera, photos and files

The Application uses the camera, and lets you choose photos and files, only to attach them to a document you are editing. Attachments are stored like the rest of your documents: on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your iCloud account. You can withdraw the Application’s access to the camera at any time in your device’s settings.

Photos and files you choose from your library or your files are kept as they are, including any details saved inside them (metadata), such as when and where a photo was taken, the device that took it, or who created a file. These details go wherever the attachment goes, including to anyone you share it with.

Notifications, widgets, Siri and search

Reminders are notifications scheduled on your device; no server is involved. So that you can find and see your documents from outside the Application, document names and expiry dates may appear in notifications, widgets, Siri, Shortcuts and search. These are handled by your device’s operating system, which, depending on your settings, may also show them in other places, such as your Lock Screen or a paired Apple Watch. Siri requests may be processed by Apple under its own privacy policy, and a shortcut you build can pass document details to other apps or services you choose. In your device’s settings, you can turn notifications off or hide their previews, and choose whether DocVault appears in Siri and search; you can remove widgets at any time.

Sharing

When you share a document or a file from the Application, for example by AirDrop, Messages or email, it is sent to the app or person you choose. What happens to it after that is up to them, and this policy no longer covers it.

Purchases

In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple. The Service Provider never receives your payment details. Whether you have DocVault Pro is checked on your device through Apple’s StoreKit. Apple provides the Service Provider with sales reports that do not identify you.

Does the Application collect precise real time location information of the device?

This Application does not collect any information about the location of your device. Photos you attach may contain the place where they were taken; see Camera, photos and files.

Do third parties see and/or have access to information obtained by the Application?

The Application contains no third-party code for analytics, advertising or crash reporting, and no data is sold. The only parties other than you and the Service Provider that may handle your data are Apple, which provides the services the Application relies on (the App Store, in-app purchases and subscriptions, and iCloud) under its own privacy policy, and the email services described under Support emails, which handle support emails under their own terms and privacy policies. The Service Provider only uses established providers whose own privacy and security commitments protect your data at least as well as this policy describes.

If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device’s settings, Apple may share crash reports and usage statistics with the Service Provider, in a form that does not identify you. You can turn this off at any time in your device’s settings.

How do I delete my data?

Deleting a document, item or category in the Application removes it, and everything in it, from your device and, if you use iCloud, from your iCloud account and your other devices.

Uninstalling the Application removes the data stored on that device, but not the copy in your iCloud account, which returns if you install the Application again. To remove that copy, delete your items and categories in the Application first, or delete DocVault’s data from your iCloud storage, which you can manage from your Apple Account in your device’s settings. Copies may also remain in backups of your device, such as iCloud Backup or a backup on a computer, until those backups are deleted or replaced.

If you contact the Service Provider directly, for example by email, you may request deletion of that correspondence at any time by contacting garish.cranes.2q@icloud.com.

Support emails

Emailing the Service Provider is optional and not needed to use the Application, but without your email address the Service Provider can’t reply. If you email the Service Provider, your message, your email address and anything you choose to include are used only to answer you and to fix the problems you report. The legal basis is the Service Provider’s legitimate interest in responding to you, supporting the Application and protecting its legal rights (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), or, for questions about a purchase, providing the service you bought (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Emails are received and stored by external email services, which handle them under their own terms and privacy policies. These services may store and process emails outside your country, including in the United States, under the safeguards they provide for international transfers, such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. The Service Provider does not share your emails with anyone else. They are kept as long as needed to answer you and to follow up on what you reported, and after that for as long as they may be needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims, such as a dispute about a purchase. This may be 12 months or more after the conversation ends, but generally no longer than the limitation period that applies to such claims. You can ask for them to be deleted at any time; the Service Provider will delete them unless they are still needed for a legal claim.

Beta testing

If you test pre-release versions of the Application through Apple’s TestFlight, Apple shares some information about you with the Service Provider: depending on how you were invited, your name and email address, as well as your device model, operating system version, crash reports, and any feedback and screenshots you choose to send. Screenshots can show your documents, so check them before you send them. This information is used only to test and improve the Application, on the basis of the Service Provider’s legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). It is kept while you remain a tester, and feedback for as long as it is needed to fix what it reports. You can stop testing at any time in the TestFlight app.

Your rights

Because the Service Provider holds no personal data from the Application, there is nothing to access, correct or export beyond what you see in the Application itself. For anything you have sent the Service Provider directly, or that Apple has shared about you as a beta tester, you have the right to access it, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, and receive a copy of it, by writing to garish.cranes.2q@icloud.com. If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

The Application makes no automated decisions about you and does no profiling.

Children

The Application does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Security

Your documents are protected by your device’s own security, such as its passcode or password and data protection, and, when stored in iCloud, by Apple’s iCloud security. Keep your device locked with a passcode or password to keep your documents private.

Changes

The Service Provider may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, by posting the updated Privacy Policy on this page with a new effective date. If the Application ever starts collecting any data, this policy will say exactly what is collected and why before that change is released.

Previous versions of this Privacy Policy are available on request at garish.cranes.2q@icloud.com.

This privacy policy is effective as of 2026-10-09.
